Petrified Forest/ Painted Desert

Within sight of Interstate 40 is a unbelievably beautiful place!  When we were travelin West I hardly noticed the area... but when Anita said she wanted to see the Paointed Desert we headed out from Winslow to Holbrook Az to enter the park.  The Painted Desert rivals the Badlands Of South Dakota in its rugged beauty and plethora of color.  Then, almost like turning a page one transitions from the Painted Desert into the Petrified Forest.  The Petrified forest at first looks "man made" in the quantity and random dispersal of the petrified wood.  As you enter the forest area the petrified logs are random but the deeper you travel the more numerous they become until it looks like the area had to have been staged...
