The UP

The Upper Peninsula of Michigan is a rugged coast bordering Lake Superior.  From the Iroquois Point Light House, you look across the straight and see Canada.  There is a board walk that extends along the shore and then loops you back to the Light House.  Unlike the other Light Houses we visited, this one is open and you are left to explore the tower on your own.  It was a beautiful place to visit... but I can't imagine what the Winters must be like on the shores of Lake Superior...

A closing note, if you ever have the opportunity to visit the UP turn off your smart phones WiFi data capability until you move south.  Whilie having lunch in Sault Ste. Marie I sent some photos to friends using 4G data on my iPhone.  When we returned home and received our next phone bill, I found a $119.00 International Data Roaming charge on the bill; my phone had grabbed a cell tower in Canada!! I called AT&T and explained that we were in the U.S. and they removed the charge...
