Death Valley National Monument
Death Valley National Monument is a true dichotomy... it is the lowest (282 Ft below sea level), hottest (134 degrees F in July 1913) and dryest (1.58 inches average rain fall) places in America! It is also one of the most beautiful... Located just 85 miles from towering Mt. Whitney (14,505 Ft above sea level) the ever changing yet enduring landscape of Death Valley has to be experienced to truely be appreciated. From the connestoga wagon wheel ruts which still stretch accross the desert floor, to Scotty's Castle and the ever changing sand dunes and plantlife... Death Valley can only be experienced in person.
